Managing Campaigns
The Campaigns section lets you reward customers with extra points on a purchase, or with a gift at a moment in their relationship with you.
Plan feature
Campaigns require the Campaigns capability on your billing plan. If campaigns are not available, contact your platform administrator to upgrade.
Campaigns list
Navigate to Campaigns in the sidebar.
- Type filter: Purchase, Customer moment, or All
- Status filter: Active, Inactive, Completed, or All
- Schedule summary: plain-language description of when the campaign is active
- Actions: Edit, Deactivate (if active), Delete
The two kinds of campaign
Creating a campaign starts with one question: "What do you want to reward?"
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Purchase campaign | Extra points on a purchase, e.g. double points on minced meat every Wednesday |
| Customer moment campaign | A gift at a moment of the customer's, e.g. their birthday, or every 10th purchase |
Everything else stays hidden until you answer it. The When and Reward cards appear only after you have chosen, because what they ask depends on which kind you picked.
You can change your mind, but you start over
Switching to the other kind discards the choices you made for this campaign. The builder asks you to confirm first.
Starting from an example
Under the two choices is a gallery of ready-made campaigns. Double points on one product, Weekend multiplier, Birthday gift, Anniversary gift, Stamp card and Welcome gift. Picking one fills the builder in with a working campaign that you then adjust. It is a starting point, not a template you are locked into.
Building the campaign
The builder reveals up to four cards as you go: General, When, What for and Reward.
Live summary
At the bottom of the page, Your campaign writes out in plain language what you have built so far, for example "2× points on Minced meat, every Wednesday". It updates as you type.
Beside it, a counter shows how many choices are still open, and each remaining choice appears as a small chip: choose products, choose days, give a name. Clicking a chip jumps to the field it refers to. When no chips are left, the campaign is ready to save.
When (purchase campaigns)
Choose a repeat pattern:
- Days of the week: toggle the days the campaign runs. Toggles are on/off buttons; at least one day must be on.
- Annual period: the campaign repeats every year between two dates
- Specific dates: add individual dates one by one
A Start date is required. An End date is optional. Leave it empty and the campaign runs until you stop it.
When (customer moment campaigns)
Pick the moment the gift belongs to: on their birthday, at a given number of years as a customer, every nth purchase, on their first purchase, or when they have not been back for a while. Each moment has its own small settings: how many years, how many purchases, how many months.
What for
Decide what the bonus counts on:
- The whole purchase: the bonus applies to the entire ticket
- Certain products: the bonus applies only to the products you list; the rest of the ticket still earns points as usual
You can also set an optional minimum purchase amount, in euros.
Picking a category takes a snapshot
Choosing a category adds the products it contains at that moment. Products added to the category later do not join the campaign automatically. Edit the campaign to add them.
Large catalogues are capped in the picker
If you have more than 500 products, only the first 500 by name can be chosen here. Products already saved on the campaign remain selectable regardless.
Reward
For a purchase campaign, choose how it pays:
- Multiply points: set a whole multiplier.
2means double points,3triple. Fractional multipliers are not supported. - Fixed extra points: a flat number of points. Under certain products this is per unit; under the whole purchase it is once per qualifying purchase.
Maximum points per purchase is optional and protects you against unusually large baskets. It caps what a single purchase can earn from this campaign.
For a customer moment campaign, choose the gift: extra points, one or more free products, or a discount on the next purchase.
Free products are a list. Pick as many as you want from the catalogue and set how many of each the
customer gets: 2× croissant and 1× coffee is one gift, not two campaigns. Every product needs a
quantity of at least 1 and at most 99, and a campaign whose picker is empty cannot be saved.
A free-product gift mints one voucher per customer each time the moment fires, and its code and scannable QR go out in the gift email. One code covers the whole gift, however many products it names: the customer shows it once, and whoever verifies it is told exactly what to hand over, quantities included. Two surfaces read the same bon: the "Use voucher" dialog on the customer page, and your till through the API. A second presentation is refused as already used, which is the record of the hand-over that a bare email never gave you. Free-product bons do not expire.
A discount gift works the same way and mints the same kind of code: a percentage from 1 to 100, or a fixed amount off the next purchase. The validity window is a number of days counted from the day each voucher is issued, so a birthday campaign that runs for years never carries a stale expiry date. Leave it blank and the voucher never expires.
Either way, what a bon promises is fixed when it is issued. Editing the gift afterwards changes what the next customer receives and never what somebody is already holding.
Where a campaign runs
Branches limits a campaign to some of the places you do business. Leave it empty and the campaign runs everywhere, which is what every campaign written before you had branches carries.
The two families read that list for opposite purposes.
A transaction campaign treats it as a gate. "Double points at the take-out box" pays only on a purchase your till attributed to that branch. A purchase that names no branch matches unscoped campaigns only. Puntjes does not guess where it happened, because guessing pays out the wrong campaign.
A customer-moment campaign does not gate on it. A birthday does not happen at a shop, so the gift fires for every customer who qualifies, wherever they last shopped. What the list constrains is where the resulting bon may be spent. The gift email names those branches and prints the address of the one, and both the "Use voucher" dialog and your till refuse the code anywhere else.
A refusal does not spend the bon. The customer keeps it and can present it at a branch the campaign allows. And the allowed branches are fixed at issue time, like everything else a bon promises: rescoping the campaign changes where the next bon works, never where an outstanding one does.
Combining with other campaigns
Combinable with other campaigns decides what happens when several campaigns match the same purchase:
- On: this campaign counts alongside other combinable campaigns
- Off (the default): if several campaigns apply, only the strongest one pays
Campaigns that lose this contest are not silently dropped: they still appear in the transaction's breakdown with zero points and the ID of the campaign that beat them. See Campaigns for the detailed rules.
Overlap is checked when you save
Two active campaigns on the same products and the same days would compete for every purchase, so the builder refuses that combination at save time and asks you to change the products, the days or the dates. The check runs on save rather than while you type.
Editing a campaign
Click Edit to modify a campaign. The builder opens fully revealed, with your saved choices in place. The kind of campaign cannot be changed. A purchase campaign stays a purchase campaign.
Every material edit bumps the campaign's version. Points already awarded keep the version they were earned under, so past transactions are never recalculated.
Deactivating a campaign
Click Deactivate to disable a campaign without deleting it. Deactivated campaigns no longer apply to transactions but remain visible in the list for reference.
Deleting a campaign
Click Delete and confirm. The campaign is permanently removed. Past transactions that benefited from this campaign retain their earned points.
